This is for the caller who told us so, please get a clue. Obama’s been in office for less than three months; President Bush was in for eight years and it took eight years for Bush to ruin the economy. Give Obama a chance. That’s all I’m saying. And quit calling in every week whining about it.

It amuses me that my Republican friends pepper SPEAK OUT with these hateful diatribes against our president and his administration. Hillary is Jane Fonda because she admits that the Mexican drug/gang war problem is related to American drug consumption? Why do you think they want to bring those drugs here? It’s because people buy them. Why do you think they have money to wage war? Because people buy drugs for a lot of money in quantities that are very high. And all this hatred of Mr. Obama—Mr. Obama has destroyed the economy in two months? It’s like you’ve handed him a broken car that was rolling down a very steep hill and it keeps rolling down the hill, and they keep saying, Why didn’t you stop it from rolling down the hill? You people make such ridiculous statements that no one is going to believe you.

In this day, when the economy is so bad and businesses are collapsing like crazy, it seems to me that customer service is most important. Let’s remember that. It seems to me there are plenty of other places that people can go to.

This is Villa Park calling. Thank God that Richard Illian and Joyce Stupegia are not in office anymore. There will be no more four-to-two votes. Thanks for the Villa Park Review for putting the numbers in—433 votes? That’s a joke; 1,041 votes, that’s a joke. Thank God they’re gone.

Lombard calling. Why is it that we have to have this constant barrage of people coming door-to-door selling something, collecting something, raising money for something? Some of these people are really obnoxious and it seems every day there’s some man walking up to my door. It makes me feel unsafe in my own home; I can’t leave my door open; I don’t feel comfortable being out in my front yard, because there’s always people wandering the neighborhood wanting something from you. And if you don’t want to buy what they’re selling, sometimes they’re not too nice and go off on you. I understand most of these people are licensed to do this; I just wish we could stop this. I don’t like all these strangers coming to my door. I want people coming to the door who are my friends and family. That’s fine. Not all these strangers who are from who knows where.

You can purchase a “no solicitors” sign for 50 cents at the Lombard Village Hall. –JAC

After reading SPEAK OUT, I agree with the person about the photo enforcement issue. I think if an officer could pull you over, the municipality should get the money or the fine, but if it’s just a picture, what right does the municipality have to that money? I’d really like to know that.

This is for all the school crossing guards. We appreciate all the work you do. We know what a difficult job this is. However, I do want you to keep in mind that if you enter an intersection right as a large SUV or van has passed through it, cars coming from the opposite direction can’t see you or your child-size pedestrians, so please be careful that when a large vehicle has passed through an intersection, that it’s not when you’re holding up your stop sign. I kind of entered an intersection today, not seeing the stop sign because it was behind a large van.

This is Lombard calling. Why have washrooms inside a train station if nobody is allowed to use them? What a waste of money. A few local places are mad that we commuters are using their washrooms instead of the ones inside the train station. The train station’s got nice washrooms. Why can’t we use them? Let’s get them working.

While I like Bill Mueller as a president, I was disappointed he was re-elected. The downtown continues to sit in a work-in-progress state. No benefits have been provided to anyone. When is there going to be change there? Route 53 access to Lombard continues to be totally unaddressed. He hasn’t led. Trustee Gron, while I voted for him, fails to do anything to support the downtown. Nothing is being done. This is a trustee who holds a significant position in the leadership of this village. This is completely wrong. We need another election, and we’ve got to get people in there who can lead us where we need to go.

Hi, I was in a back-end collision in Lombard and would like to commend officers Belanger and Olson for their tremendous service. They are definitely an asset to the Lombard Police Department and I’m glad I live in the Village of Lombard that has those kinds of officers. They made me feel comfortable and made me laugh, and that’s what helped me get through it.

Hi, I was wondering, in these tough financial times, for both the citizens and public services, is it absolutely necessary for the firemen to take a big fire truck to the grocery store to do their shopping? This goes on in all the local suburbs, and they charge between $175 and $250 for an emergency call if you’re in an accident, or even if they show up and don’t do anything and go back. I’m wondering what’s the cost for them to take a big fire truck for two firemen to go to the grocery store and do some grocery shopping. I think this is something that needs to be looked at. Maybe they could just take one of the Suburbans, or smaller vehicles that the fire department has. I think this is something the towns should start looking at.

OK, Lombard, I have to ask this question. Why was it necessary for our government to have a photo over New York and scare the city of New York half to death? And secondly, why did we need to spend $330,000 for some photos? Is this an ego trip? The more things that President Obama’s cabinet or members of the government do, stupid things like this, the worse he looks.

This is Lombard calling. This is to the people who are complaining about President Mueller who got elected and that the Village of Lombard will still be stuck in the ’70s. At least the Village of Lombard is in the black—other nearby communities are in the red. They’re all crying for money and doing massive cuts, cutting everything in the village and jacking up prices for water bills, for taxes and for fees. The Village of Lombard is in the black and that is thanks to President Mueller.

Hi, this is a Lombard resident calling. Attention all you dog owners out there; please remember it’s a village ordinance that you have to pick up your dog’s mess after your dog uses everybody’s yard around here. I just cut my grass and there are all kinds of little surprises everywhere, so, not all you dog owners are good neighbors. Please pick up after your dogs.

When your government doesn’t listen and keeps spending your money, when it prints money it doesn’t have, when it bails out banks and businesses and takes charge of them, and when your president goes around the world bad-mouthing your country to everyone abroad, and when we the people have no say in America, it’s time for the people to gather a grass-roots movement, the tea party, and say enough is enough. We are not a socialist nation and we are seeing patterns of a dictatorship. Ronald Reagan said that a government that expands, liberty contracts.
