It appears the LPFC is bankrupt and Lombard is obligated to fund $2 million a year. What Mr. Hulseberg didn’t elaborate on; how many years is Lombard obligated to contribute $2 million? A second thought, we all need to thank the trustees who decided not to support a condo on the old DuPage Theatre site. Lombard would have been obligated to support another site. We need to look closely at our village leaders; some of the proponents of the Westin are still in power.

Villa Park calling. Just was wondering about the garbage pick-up. With Waste Management, which we previously had, there were two trucks; one for waste, one for recycle. Now with Roy Strom, there is just one truck. Maybe there are two compartments, one for garbage and one for recycling. Or maybe there’s no recycling.

Vydas Juskelis, director of public works, stated, “The trucks contain two compartments, one for regular refuse and one for recyclables.” He indicated that information is available at

Lombard here. To the person who believes only people without an education or college degree are the ones complaining about teachers’ salaries, I have a degree, and I apparently do better than teachers when it comes to salary. I agree that many teachers’ salaries are way too high. Most work 9-10 months a year and have every stinking holiday under the sun off. I’m guessing you are a teacher based on your lack of perspective. Also your comment about $100,000 being paper route money I am sure was meant to inflame people making under that. All that comment showed is that you are self-absorbed, arrogant and enjoy making people feel bad. Your comment only took away your credibility and showed what a fool you are.

After watching several Village of Lombard board meetings, I am ready to recommend a chiropractor for Trustee Ware, as his neck must surely be bothering him after all the times he turns to the left apparently looking for Trustee Fitzpatrick to tell him how he should vote.

To the person who thinks $100,000 is pocket change, you must be a teacher. There are a lot of people who went to college, myself included, who do not make $100,000 a year, who own a home, buy cars, pay for their children’s education and can live on $100,000 a year. A $100,000 is not a great deal of money. All I can believe is you’re a teacher or a spoiled child who knows how to spend mommy and daddy’s money.

Hey, Lombard. You wouldn’t have to vote for term limits if you’d get off your duff and vote. No whiners allowed in SPEAK OUT if you qualify for the couch potato award. As the saying goes, “Walk the Talk.”

To the person complaining about no poop bags around Terrace View, what else do you want Lombard to do? It’s your dog; carry your own bags or move to Elmhurst.

Villa Park here. I read that someone saw Kevin Fitzpatrick taking down his wife’s campaign signs, and it’s good. I know people leave them up for months on end, especially on the big highways. However, I recently read that a law was passed that you can leave the signs up all year round, as long as it’s on your property. What a crock.

Are you serious? $100,000 is paper route money? Come on, give me a break. I have an education and I work hard every week. I work hard to make a good living. I have a college education and I know teachers who don’t work 12 months out of the year who get more vacation time than they know what to do with, who laugh that they don’t do anything, who make more money than I do, cannot be fired, get automatic raises. What is that? Education should be focused on subjects that are most important: If you’re a math teacher then you should be paid based on the performance of the student, just like everybody else. Unions need to go.

As I understand it, Zach Wilson is our finance chairman, and he apparently didn’t know what’s going on with the Westin Hotel; he’s hearing things from an outside source. Is he out of the loop or is the board keeping stuff from him? This doesn’t seem quite right and I think it should be investigated.

The senior citizens of District 6 would like Peter Roskam to schedule a town meeting to discuss various concerns they have, at his earliest convenience. As a protegé of the late Henry Hyde, Peter Roskam certainly recalls how dedicated Henry Hyde was to communicating with his constituents on a frequent basis.

Recently somebody called in, an Obama fan, and complained about somebody else who called in and mentioned Obama and redistribution of wealth as socialism. That person said here’s a fact check for you: The rich have never been richer and the poor have never been poorer, and don’t worry about the rich. To Mr. or Ms. Fact Checker, here’s the problem: You’re correct. Obama’s redistribution of wealth does not affect the rich; it’s the people who would like to get rich, like maybe someone like me who works really hard and would like to get rich. He takes from me so I can never become rich. You are correct: The rich are rich and they will stay rich. The problem is, under Obama, no one else will ever get rich again except for the oil companies.

Hi, this is Lombard calling. I have a question. I heard one of the princesses competing for Lilac Queen is a resident of Villa Park. I thought only girls from Lombard could compete. Am I wrong? Please let me know.

Princesses on the Lilac Court are required to be residents of Lombard—and they are.—JAC

I live in unincorporated Lombard so I find out that the people in the Village of Lombard are going to pay $13.30 a month for a 64-gallon trash can to be picked up by Waste Management. I have the same size container, I have the same company, yet because I live in the unincorporated area, I pay more than double the amount—with all the fees it’s $28.43 per month. Something’s wrong. People, speak up. We’ve got to do something about this.

Hi, Lombard. I just want to give a shout-out to Old Town Pizza. They’re always there when I need them for a donation and always willing to deliver. Thanks again, Old Town.

This is Lombard calling. Last week a caller pointed out a particular Lombard school where parents were using cell phones in a school zone. I passed through school zones this week and noted parents using their cell phones at each school. I wonder if any cell phones are used in the Glenbard East school zone.

Lombard calling. I was just reading the article on the proposed railroad tunnel at South Park. I’m reading that UPRR is funding the majority of the project and, in order for the project not to look like a cheap tube, the village is considering the $80,000 upgrade to enhance it. To me, this is a true test of the village’s commitment to enhancing downtown Lombard.  Year after year, we keep hearing their talk of their commitment to downtown Lombard. Let’s finally see them put their money where their mouth is.

Lombard calling. To the folks who called in about having poop bag dispensers at both the Prairie Path and Terrace View Pond, I live by the Park Avenue townhomes and they have dispensers along the Park Avenue sidewalk, and guess what? There is still poop everywhere from the people who love having dogs but don’t enjoy the responsibility of having to pick up after a dog. Three words: lazy and inconsiderate. You don’t need poop bags dispensers; you bring your dog out, you should bring a plastic bag from home. It would be nice to think that everyone would take advantage of poop bags, but trust me as one who has dodged the mine field on the sidewalk on the way to the train station every day, you can make it easier for people; unfortunately, they still don’t do it.

I really don’t understand all this conversation about teachers making too much money. Most of the teachers making more than $100,000 have master’s degrees or doctorate degrees and many years of experience. If they were working in the business world they could easily be making that much money. They are teaching our children. What job is more important than that? I don’t see anyone complaining about how much the CEO of their company makes. The top CEOs in America make more than $100,000 in two hours. Do you think they work more in two hours than a teacher does in a year? I’d like to see one of them try to put up with all the baloney teachers have to take from their students, parents and the public. Rep. Ryan from Wisconsin presented a budget in Congress that would get rid of Medicare and give corporations and the wealthiest in America a 29-percent tax break. They continue to take from the middle class and give to the rich, while we stand by and complain that benefits should be taken away from the teachers because we don’t have them.

I can’t believe somebody would actually have a problem with a sign calling for peace in a time of war; at a church, no less, too, where that’s what it’s all about—the prince of peace. Isn’t that what it’s supposed to be about, Mr. or Ms. Christian?

Hello, I went over to the village hall to donate blood for the blood drive and there was no parking available. Why don’t they let people park on Hammerschmidt? Maybe that would help.
