Did everyone see the Villa Park Police on the news? They received donated money and then went Christmas shopping for families in need. It showed the officers and their families going through the store and finding items on each person’s wish list. Later they wrapped and delivered the presents. What a wonderful way for the Villa Park Police Department to contribute to the spirit of giving and to the residents of Villa Park. It was really nice to see. Thank you Villa Park Police.

I’ve been driving around and I’ve noticed that at a lot of the corners they’ve replaced the stop signs with new ones, but they left 2 to 3 feet of post sticking out of the ground. It’s not bad now but when those corners get filled with snow to where people can’t see those posts and kids start jumping on the corners as they’re coming to and from school, you’ve got 2 feet of steel sticking up out of the ground that people won’t even know is there. I think the village needs to do something about it, as much of a hassle as it might be. But it needs to be taken care of.

Villa Park calling. Just want to thank everyone who had their decorations out. They look so beautiful in all the townships. I want to wish a happy new year to everyone who had to work on the holidays, especially for our firemen and police officers, who give up their time and their lives every day, and to our special forces across the way.

Hi, this is Villa Park calling. I would like to remind people to turn on their headlights, especially at dusk and when it is raining. It is the law to have your lights on when you’re using your windshield wipers. Too many people are driving without their headlights and it is not safe, especially with the weather we will soon be having. Be careful also wearing dark clothing on the side of the road or across the street, and people on bicycles who don’t know how to put on safety equipment or reflective wear so you don’t hit them.

People call in a lot about the Elizabeth Street and St. Charles Road intersection when there’s a train. Let’s say you are going either east, turning right, or west, turning left, on St. Charles Road and were to have the green light when there’s a train. If traffic is backed up because of the train, where are you going to go? Or, if you are at Elizabeth and St. Charles going north, you get the green light, again, where are you going to go? I agree the light set-up is not ideal, but stop and think that there’s no place to go if traffic is near the tracks.

Hello, Lombard. We’re concerned about training for paramedics and who’s going to be responding to our homes and our businesses, and we only want the best. So why is it then that we’re having “security” guards, hall monitors and door watchers at our schools but we’re not going to have police officers there? Something doesn’t seem right.

Congratulations to the Glenbard East Rams freshman girls basketball team. They are undefeated and took first place in the District 87 tournament and the West Chicago tournament. You girls are an amazing team and you should be so proud of your hard work and determination to be the star players you are today. A huge thank you to both of your Junior Ram coaches also for volunteering their time this past four years. Everyone is so proud of you girls. Keep up the good work and play hard. You are the talk of the town.

This is Villa Park calling. In the last issue of the Villa Park Review, Lombard announced its plan to trim parkway trees in one area of Lombard. Is there a similar plan and designated village area in Villa Park? If there is, I’d like to learn of this plan from our village president, who seems to be forgetting about trimming trees in Villa Park, or about the ever-increasing crime and gang activity. He seems to be quite ready and eager to join his fellow gerrymandering Democrats in Springfield to further raise our taxes and to avoid solving the pension problem. I’d like to hear what our president has to say.

I’m calling in regard to the comments about the lilac street signs, plus a comment of my own on the Christmas decorations that are put on the street lights. I live south of Roosevelt Road and I think it would be nice to have on the Main Street signs going this way the lilacs on those street signs, plus I also think it would be nice to have holiday decorations continuing south of Roosevelt and going to 22nd Street. We’re part of Lombard and I think it looks festive. Happy new year.

Hi, this is Lombard calling. I’m a longtime resident of Lombard and it’s great to see that the village approved money for the Lombard Town Centre. Obviously there’s still a concern when Mr. Giagnorio refers to the town center as “go take a walk down there.” Down there, like it’s the basement or the cellar of the village. It’s actually the heart of the Village of Lombard, and it should be treated in such a way. Honestly, it’s north of Mr. Giagnorio, the village hall and Yorktown, so when you refer to north, as in Wisconsin being north, it’s up there. So, let’s get it straight, Mr. Giagnorio. Take a walk up there and see what’s going on, and if you’re running for president, it would be great if you put a focus on the downtown part of Lombard.

I am thankful that the president is taking on the National Rifle Association for stronger gun control. However the NRA is a very large and powerful organization. In addition, it has strong supporters including big businesses and Republican politicians. We can all take on the NRA and we can also boycott their business supporters. Since loss of revenue often speaks louder than words, then hopefully this action may help the president, those of us who want stronger gun control and make the NRA and politicians listen.

I have a request to make of Bonnie MacKay regarding the village's no-response policy. Could you please print every village candidate’s position on this issue? I feel this information is important for the voters in Lombard to have. Thank you.

Thanks for your input. When it is time to print the candidate profiles, I will include this question.—blm

Hey, Lombard Fire Department. I guess I don’t understand why you can’t have a contract, private, paramedic ambulance transport some of these folks who are just basic life support, invalid assists or are at our many nursing homes and senior citizen complexes on the south side of town. Could somebody explain that? Thank you.

Sorry, we are unable to obtain an answer to your question from the village due to village policy. It is against said policy to acknowledge or respond to any item that is from an anonymous source. Anyone with questions regarding the village should contact the Lombard Village Hall at 630-620-5700 for assistance.
