Who figured out how to time the light in front of Ultra on Roosevelt Road? Leaving that shopping center, it seems they assume everybody wants to turn left. Not well-thought-out.

Lombard, what’s going on at the Lombard Post Office? On two recent visits I waited in line for at least 15 minutes. The poor worker was at the counter by herself. When asked by a heckler in line to get more help, she apologized and told him there wasn’t anyone else available at that time. The poor woman was very pleasant and doing the best she could. Whoever is running that place apparently doesn’t care about customer service. Thank you.

Hi from Lombard. I have been waiting and waiting in my car on Grace Street and St. Charles to cross the railroad tracks while a slow freight train rumbles on and on. The baby is starting to cry, the toddler is getting restless and another freight oozes down the other track. The groceries are starting to spoil, diabetic grandpa is getting nervous, asking for some orange juice, and we are still waiting and waiting. Look overhead; the bridge of DuPage County has one biker on it. Meanwhile, down on the street, thousands of people in thousands of cars wait hundreds of hours to cross dangerous, busy tracks. It would be so much safer and better if the rest of us had a bridge or underpass to get by these tracks, too. Thank you.

Villa Park calling. In regard to the caller of the Sept. 18 issue of SPEAK OUT, who blames our Villa Park village manager for not knowing that glass bottles could be recycled, well, we can’t accuse our village manager of that. I think you’d better take a second look. It was one of the trustees who is enjoying his second term in office who has not known about glass. Thank you.

Hi, America here. It’s time to impeach Obama, get him out of the way. He’s destroying America. We can’t keep him around much longer. Come on, people, let’s vote him out. Let’s get the Senate back to the Republicans. Let’s get rid of him. We need to. Bye.

This is Lombard calling in regard to the call in the Lombardian regarding giving the trustees support. I’m sorry, but our trustees seem bogus. Anyway, our new trustee has not even been out to visit Finley Road and the delays and everything else and the money that is being put into it. Anyway, I’m very disgusted with our village. Thank you.

Hello, this is Lombard calling and I just wanted to thank the Tri-Town YMCA for a wonderful event on Saturday in Lombard. I attended the Tri-Town Toast and it was a wonderful event. There were so many great vendors, sampling Illinois wines and Illinois beers, and it was a really fun event attended by many people, so I just wanted to thank the Tri-Town YMCA for putting on such a nice event in Lombard on a Saturday. Thank you.

This is to the people who think Villa Park does not have gangs. Do us a favor. If you think Villa Park does not have a gang, do not vote, do not drive a car. If you have children, let somebody else raise them because you’re not intelligent enough. To anybody who thinks that Villa Park does not have gangs, do yourself a favor. Get yourself an education. You really need it.

Ode to Cruise Nights: To the hot rodders, customizers, business folk and organizers; the cops on the street and the people you meet are mellow and smile learning good music while they gaze quite amazed at the gorgeous displays of fine custom cars from near and from far. And so, thank you enthusiasts, wherever you are, for the best fun in Lombard on Saturday night, all summer long, so come see the sight; where cars are the stars until well after dark. Cruise Nights in Lombard on St. Charles and Park.

Lombard calling. It is too bad people take advantage of privileges and neighbors in parking RVs and boats in front yards that never move. They rot out. The village board at Lombard’s last meeting did a good job of discussing the nuisance. If you own a boat or RV you need to watch the Channel 6 rerun of Sept. 19. Thank you.

The problem with the condo owners losing their garages is very disappointing. How disgraceful the village seems apparently not following its own ordinances. At least have the decency to come and correct the problem.

I don’t know if all of you feel like I do, but I’m spending an awful lot of money on gasoline for my automobile. And it’s something I can’t stop, I can’t prevent. The government tells us we are drilling more oil in this country than ever before, but why aren’t the prices coming down? I think all of you should be calling or writing a letter to the congressman and senators, and even the president of the United States. He’s the biggest spender of them all. He never stops flying in that expensive jet. He never stops taking vacations but he’s telling everybody else to cut back, cut back. All of us could get a decent raise just from the money he spends every year. Call your congressmen and senator and tell them to do something about the price of gasoline. It’s eating holes in my pocket. Goodbye.

To the gentleman who parked his very fancy, very expensive car in a handicapped space, you didn’t have a handicapped placard or plates. My initial thought was, “Who do you think you are?” You strolled in like it was your right to park your expensive car as close to the door as you wanted, disregarding that it is a designated handicapped spot. So I wonder, why do you deem yourself special enough to park wherever you want?

Hi. I took my sons to Madison Meadow park Saturday around noon, and a group of cheerleaders was having a McDonald’s lunch there. They were well-behaved kids until it came time to clean up. The park was littered with plastic from the toys and Happy Meal boxes, and various other garbage. Cheerleading teaches kids to work together, but what about our planet? Our planet is our children’s children’s future, and they will inherit it. My 16-month-old son and I cleaned up the garbage and it’s a danger to other children and pets that share the park, so please teach your children to respect our planet. I have learned to leave a place better than it was. Let’s work together to make our hometown beautiful. Thank you.

This man died, went and stood in front of the pearly gates, saw St. Peter and noticed all these clocks behind St. Peter. He asked St. Peter, “What are all the clocks for?” St. Peter said, “Everybody has a clock. Every time you lie, it moves.” The man said, “Really?” St. Peter said, “See that one in the corner? That’s Mother Teresa’s. It never moved.” “Really?” the man asked. “See that other one? That’s Abraham Lincoln’s. That’s moved twice,” St. Peter said. The man said, “Well, where’s Obama’s?” “Oh,” replied St. Peter. “That’s in God’s office. He uses that for a ceiling fan.” Good day. Have a nice day.

Yes, this is Lombard calling. This is to Peter Roskam, all the Republican congressmen and senators, all the DuPage County officials and residents who do not support Obamacare. If it wasn’t for Obamacare, a lot of families with kids living at home would not have insurance. Obamacare is a blessing and all the pieces that they want to do are the best parts of Obamacare, especially for the families who have multiple kids who are not working currently and need support. Thank you.

This is Villa Park calling. I would like to thank the members of the parks and recreation department for a great job on working with Oktoberfest. Specifically I would like to thank Jenny and Marlon; they did an outstanding job as usual. Thanks again.

So reading in the Sept. 18 SPEAK OUT concerning the turf field at Glenbard East, it says the Glenbard East Boosters donated $433,000. That’s quite a bit of money for a booster club.

I want to say thank you to the great fire department, paramedics, Target employees and customers who were so kind to help me the day I fell at Target. Everyone was just wonderful and so kind. Thank you.

In the open forum Thursday night, that guy was talking again about the downtown condo owners losing all their garages. I can’t believe the village would enter into an oral contract with the developer and things would turn out good. The village owes the condo owners their garages.

* * *

I don’t mean to beat that dead horse called the Main Street Prairie Path crossing, but it happened again where someone stopped to let bicyclists go by, even though they were in the median waiting for traffic to go past. Can’t the village put some kind of sign there reminding people only to stop if someone is already in the intersection? Better yet, the people using the path need to use good judgment about when it’s safe to cross four lanes of traffic and not use the median as an island.

Bravo to Mr. Masterson for standing up for what is right. It’s too bad the village board can’t figure it out. I guess the board figures the ends justify the means, even if the condo owners lose their garages. But at least someone understands integrity, and it certainly doesn’t appear to be the board. Bye.
