Hello. I see by our transparent Pride magazine, apparently the only place we can get information, well, only some information, I see the village is going to put a gas station right in the middle of a complex by the village hall. That’s just great. Just one more ridiculous thing. Don’t we have village property in one of these industrial parks? Come on.

According to a village memo, the village board on Thursday, March 6, will be discussing the construction of a new fueling facilty—for dispensing unleaded and diesel fuel-—to replace the current one that is “located in a highly congested area.” The memo indicates the village has a “fleet of 130 pieces of rolling stock.” As for the location, the memo says there are two potential locations for the facility, both located within the village complex.—JAC

Recently I have read about several residential burglaries here in town, and would like to share an experience with the Villa Park police. Both my wife and I had noticed an oddly behaving person in our neighborhood and decided it would be a good idea to report this to the police. When reported to the duty officer at the desk, we were told by her and another officer, that “You cannot personally know everyone in your neighborhood, it’s probably just one of your neighbors.” Then, when we protested that we actually do know most of our neighbors and this subject isn’t one of them, the officer got an attitude toward us, and implied we were wasting their time and basically to go away. Now there have been numerous break-ins during the day. Sorry for “wasting your time.”

Hi, everyone. I just discovered a new shoe store at Oak Brook shopping center called Clark’s. It has a wide variety of women’s shoes in wide with and the personnel are very helpful. It is located on the lower level across from Pandora.

Well it looks like last week in SPEAK OUT, Fox News had its minions calling in about global warming and the same old stupid question: “Could you please correct me, why, when the Earth is getting cooler it’s called global warming?” Just because one week it’s cooler where you live, the entire planet is warming. Don’t look at it as one isolated snow storm. The entire planet is warming and the difference between now and the ice age, we didn’t have 2 million on the coast in Miami and 2 million people on the coast in New York; and Los Angeles and islands in the Pacific are populated now. There was no population in the Ice Age. There was nothing going on, so when the water rose, it didn’t matter.

I am so tired of the pro-Fox newsies who would promote themselves as pro-American and the rest of us, Democrat, Republican or pro-Obama as anti-American. Who gave you the keys to the country? Fox News is filtered, or don’t you get that? Lombard calling.

So far in 2014, six days where the Lombard Post Office has failed to deliver my mail. I would get fired if I didn’t do my job.

In SPEAK OUT a few weeks ago the global warming mockers were out in full force and we all know where they get there disinformation from. Because it was a very cold January here they think global warming is a hoax. Well, NOAA just reported globally it was the fourth warmest January ever on record. When it’s the fourth coldest, please let me know because the The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climate Data Center says that last month marks the 38th consecutive January and the 347th consecutive month (almost 29 years) that global temperatures have been above the average for the 20th century. And I’m sure you know more than the 97 percent of scientists who believe global warming is real and is caused by mankind. You may not care about what happens to the planet after you leave but I sure do.

Lombard calling. This is to all who believe the snow plow drivers are doing a good job. Our neighborhood does not have any village employees, trustees or anyone involved in the snow plowing operation, all of whom I’m sure get their streets cleaned in a timely manner. Their neighbors get to enjoy the fruits of their labors. In our area we do not have our streets cleared until well after midnight. Apparently we do not get any consideration until the drivers are on overtime pay. People who must get out are slipping and sliding no matter how slow they’re going. With 6 or more inches of snow on the street, by the time the trucks drag this amount of snow, I end up with a foot-and-a-half of snow on the end of my driveway. And to the caller who suggested I inconvenience my neighbors or pay $20 every other day top have my driveway cleared of the plowed snow, I can’t afford it. Can you?

One of our mail carriers told us we didn’t get our mail until after 7 p.m. because he had to do more than one route. No mail again yesterday shows it’s an ongoing problem. We have never in 55 years and lots of snowy winters had mail persons doing the work of two carriers. We’ve heard this from two carriers who service our area.

Hi, this is Lombard calling. I just would like to congratulate all of the wonderful people who let their dogs poop all over the sidewalks. Yes, it is snowy, and yes, it might be difficult to pick up dog poop in the snow, but guess what; when the snow melts the dog poop is still there. Great job, dog walkers. Keep it up.

Lombard calling. Seems the weather’s getting a bit better but now we have more woes to worry about. We’ve shoveled our sidewalks, we’ve shoveled our driveways, but I still have another 2 1/2 feet at my corner to get to the drain because the village plowers plowed all the snow on top of our drain and our neighbor across the way’s drain, and other drains. If we were not to pay taxes because of poor service, would the village respond? We cannot access these drains. When people’s houses start to flood and it costs thousands of dollars, who then do we call, SPEAK OUT? Somebody has to handle this.

This is Lombard calling. Reading in the Lombardian that Lombard residents will see another water rate hike for 2014, we’ve lived in Lombard for 28 years. We should go back to the well water. We had good-tasting water and would not have to smell chlorine every time we open the sink. The chlorine is sometimes worse than being in a pool. It’s something for the Village of Lombard to think about. We have the water towers. Why don’t we go back to well water? Thank you, bye.

Hi, Lombard calling. Wednesday, Feb. 19. I had to go online to get the number for SPEAK OUT because I did not receive my paper today in the mail like I normally do. The post office is broken; it lacks leadership, it lacks accountability. We mailed my son’s wedding invitations on Feb. 10, that was a Monday; as of yet, we have not received our own invitations. We mailed them in Glendale Heights. Our guests in Michigan, Vermont, Connecticut, North Carolina, Indiana and Wyoming have all received their invitations. They’re actually getting responses back in Michigan at this point and we still have not received our own invitation. The situation over there is ridiculous. I do not blame the carriers. I think they probably work hard, but it is a broken bureaucracy.

Just curious as to the the reasons why Villa Park can’t get a decent railroad crossing. The Ardmore crossing has been redone at least three times in the time I have lived here. Each time it is half-way decent for about six months and then we’re back to the same old camel hump 2 mph crossing.

Hi, this is Villa Park calling with a big thank you for our mail lady, Juanita. She has excellent service, especially during this weather. Thanks, Juanita.

Lombard. West Harding Road calling. Have now started getting the mail daily, and during daylight. Have not gotten any mail for West Harrison Street, either. I feel like I’m living a miracle. I know it’s only been a week, but thanks. Keep up the good work. It takes me back years to the great service we received when Mike R. was our mail person. Thank you.

Lombard calling. Listen to Bill Brady, Kirk Dillard, Bruce Rauner and Dan Rutherford’s debate for governor of Illinois. Listen to Kirk Dillard’s answers to all his questions. Then, a very unnecessary bitter criticism of Scott Walker of Wisconsin. I would love to have a Scott Walker Republican to turn around Illinois, so I guess I’ll vote for Bruce Rauner. Thank you.

To the 58-year-old caller who thinks mail carriers are government employees not doing their job. First, they are not government employees. Second, to say they are not doing their job is ludicrous. Do you think they enjoy delivering mail at 6 p.m. in the dark in the cold? I’m 61 years old and when something is not going right, I try to find out why. The answer here is that several mail carriers are injured from slipping on the snow and ice. That leaves the rest of the mail carriers to do their route and part of another route. So, they are doing their jobs and more. Thank you. Goodbye.

I just read in SPEAK OUT that only 25 percent of Americans are Republicans. That may be why cities are overrun with gangs and drugs, veterans are begging for medical care and housing, etc., illegal immigrants are flourishing in American, there are no jobs, the borders are still wide open, so many people are on entitlements, English is a second language. Need I go on? I wonder how Fox got to be top news program. Are all you Democrats watching O’Reilly? Vote Republican and bring back our America.

I agree with last week’s call from the new Lombard resident regarding snow removal on the Prairie Path. It is a great feature for our town. Many people like to have the ability to exercise on it year-round. Kudos to Villa Park for clearing the path. Hopefully in the future Lombard can follow suit and do so as well.

Hi, Lombard calling. I was surprised to see something Peter Breen wrote on the mailing he did regarding his run for state representative. He said that since 2002, our state representative has been a seat-warmer for the status quo. I think if he were aware of all that Sandra Pihos has done in Lombard and other communities, he would not have put that statement on there. Rep. Pihos has always been available to listen to our concerns, and has worked tirelessly to help. She’s for the people, not for herself. She does not appear to have a political agenda, either. We need to keep her in office. Thank you.

For those of you who missed the event at Gianorio’s that was helping to give proceeds to the Deicke Home, I want to mention that the pizza was good, the staff was working very hard, trying to keep up with all the orders. The line was out the door and many people supported the fundraiser for the Deicke Home. Thank you Lombard for your efforts and I certainly do appreciate seeing people out to help support a very good cause. Thank you again. Bye.

This is in reference to your article on the Lombard police starting to carry Narcan. In the article you state that Lombard paramedics have carried Narcan for close to 20 years. Speaking as one of our original paramedics, I can tell you that 37 years ago we were carrying IV Narcan. Just a minor correction. Thanks for your time. Bye.

Hi, this is Lombard calling. So I see in the Lombardian that it’s my responsibility to remove the snow and ice from the sewer in front of my house. I believe that would be the village’s problem, since they’re the ones who plowed over the sewer and dumped snow on the sewer. I will not be cleaning off my sewer. The Village of Lombard can clean off my sewer and grate. Thank you.

To all you politicians, besides the robo calls being annoying, I have decided that any candidate who cannot use a valid phone number for caller ID—not “unknown name, private number” like I’ve gotten so many times—will not get my vote. Talk about lack of transparency. They’re hiding behind these and other numbers that only identify a town and a phone number, or it says cell phone number.

Hi, this is Lombard calling. Just wanted to say if Mr. Z’s really loved Lombard and the country, and had any respect for they country, they would take down that ripped, torn, tattered flag that is flying in the parking lot. It’s a disgrace to the country. Shame on them.

OK, I’m sitting here, it’s the end of February, I’m watching the weather, and we are at near-record lows. We have just had an extremely cold winter, one of the snowiest winters on record, yet I still see people calling in to SPEAK OUT and they call about people who do not believe in global warming or climate change—which might be one of the dumbest phrases ever. Climate change? Really? No kidding. The climate’s been changing since the beginning of the Earth. You people are geniuses. But you have the nerve to call people who don’t believe in your bad science ignorant? News flash. The gig is up. There is no such thing as global warming caused by man or fossil fuels. That’s a big lie. The United Nations and Al Gore, pun intended, cooked the books. The sad thing is, the hundreds of billions of dollars we are wasting on this, we could be using to really clean up pollution.

Hi, Lombard calling. I’m driving behind a Waste Management recycling truck, and papers, plastic bottles and cardboard are blowing off the top and he is just moseying along. So much for recycling.

This message is for those who haven’t been getting their mail on time. I’ve been going to the post office, picking up my own mail. It’s sitting there because they don’t have enough help to deliver it. Let’s help the post office out and pick up our own mail at the post office. It will be only until they can get more help. Thank you.

* * *

I’m calling in regard to the people who are upset about their mail delivery. Obviously they’ve never had the opportunity to work out in the lousy weather. Hot, rainy, snowy, cold. Ninety percent of the mail you get is junk. If your mail is so important to you, drive to the post office, rent a box, then you can get up off your couch every day, drive over there and get your valuable mail. I think they’re doing a great job of sloshing through all this cold and winter. I’m happy with them. God bless. Goodbye.
