Lombard calling. Just calling about the lazy Lombard police officer on Friday, March 27. There was an accident at Wilson and Fairfield and he had traffic so snarled he couldn’t get out of his warm cruiser and direct traffic while the tow truck was there to pick up the cars. He could have gotten out of his cruiser and directed traffic, and told people to go a different way or something like that, but he didn’t. He just sat in his cruiser with the lights flashing. OK, thank you.

Your concerns were forwarded to the Village of Lombard which provided the following response: “On March 27th a spring snow storm, combined with plummeting temperatures resulted in more than 30 auto accidents in less than two hours. Due to these specific weather challenges, village resources were stretched to the absolute maximum. During this extreme situation officers filled out accident reports in an accurate and efficient manner and then reported to the next accident location. Officers were unable to exit their vehicles to direct traffic because of urgent needs at additional accident scenes. We appreciate your concern and can assure you that the goal of every member of the police department is to provide the best police services available to the citizens of Lombard.”—blm

Good afternoon. I have a complaint about people not reading the Pride or the Lombardian regarding leaf-green collection. The Pride has beautiful articles telling us when it happens. The Lombardian has articles telling us when it happens. Our Waste Management will frequently have articles when the collection is. The first full week of April and usually the last full week of November. It’s in between those times. Why must bags be sitting at the curbs for weeks on end? Thank you very much. Again, the Pride has information and the Lombardian. You people are doing your part. Why can’t the neighbors read? Thank you. Bye now.

Good day, Lombard, Tuesday, April 7, election day. Hats off to the professionalism and thoroughness of the election judges over at the Lombard Gospel Chapel, 369 Stewart. This is your Precinct 101 in District 4 of Lombard. Jocelyn and the other judges who were there were totally thorough, though there was a discrepancy with my signature. Interesting to note to all residents. Update your signature cards. My last signature was in 2000 and they rightfully questioned it. They were precise, succinct and professional. This is the way it should be done. I really appreciate their thoroughness and DuPage County in Wheaton will also be notified. Have a great day.

The Sacred Heart Catholic Church choir is magnificent. What a wonderful Easter gift for everyone who attended.

I want to thank the paramedics and fire department who came to my home in Villa Park when I called 9-1-1 for my son a few weeks ago. Everyone on the team was so amazing and caring and kept the situation very calm and under control. They have such a hard job and yet do it so well. I cannot be more grateful for their help in transporting my son to the hospital. They exemplify what these professions are all about—helping people. Thank you so much again.

This is Lombard calling. I just want to say the union mascot with the inflatable rats are out when people are trying to get their businesses growing or built. The unions apparently have blocked the Dunkin’ Donuts at Grace and North Avenue. There are two rats at the Route 66 auto repair shop on Ardmore and North Avenue, which is Villa Park. I think this is totally ridiculous. I think people have a right to work and people have a right to remodel and build, and should not be forced to use union labor. Thank you.

Obama seems to have finally found his way to get rid of Gitmo. That’s what the talks with Castro are all about. Included in his deal will be getting rid of Gitmo, giving it back. Guess who will likely move in? I say China or Russia—90 miles from our shores and then we’re back to the 1950s with fear and bomb shelters for our children and grandchildren. Thank you, Obama.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Hillary Clinton wants to be president of the United States. When they were looking for records in the White House, she couldn’t remember: “I don’t remember.” “I don’t know where they are.” “I have no idea. I can’t remember.” So she wants to be president of the United States and she has a mind that can’t remember important things and yet they were found later on and she couldn’t remember who put them there and how they got there. Then all of a sudden people die in Benghazi and she makes the comment, “What difference does it make now?” Do you want someone like that to become president of the United States? Not on you life. Don’t throw your vote away. Give it to somebody else. Goodbye.

Hi. I just wanted thank a man who helped me. I was driving down Madison, stopped at Grace Street going west. He honked and came over and told me I had a flat tire. I was in a hurry—I had to take my son to the doctor’s office, so I pulled over and was going to call somebody and I forgot my phone so I drove over to Joe Shayne’s on Main Street. They let me use their phone, they put the car up, checked the car, were able to fix the tire. Everybody was very nice. My husband came over and gave me my cell phone. I just wanted to thank Joe Shayne’s and the man who honked the horn and told me that the tire was a problem. Everything turned out right. Thank you very much. Bye.
