Ronald Reagan created 22 million jobs during the Clinton communist presidency, and now Mitch McConnell has created 11 million jobs for Obama. Thank you and may God bless Lombard.

This is a resident of Lombard. It’s Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 8:15 a.m. I wanted to acknowledge the great job public works did in the Foxworth subdivision removing the snow so far this winter. Things are looking up. We’re getting our mail before 6 p.m, 10 p.m., the snow is gone and we’ve got a smile on our faces. Thanks also to our trustee, Mr. Fugiel, for doing a great job for our village. Bye.

Hello there. This is Illinois. We don’t want the library anywhere. I think he should put it in Cuba with his mentor, Castro. Maybe even in Russia, who knows? They’re both good Communist countries just like Obama is. I’ll talk to you guys later. Thanks.

Absolutely unbelievable. First cold snap of the winter season and they’re closing schools because of the wind chill factor. The children, grade school, junior high, high school, can’t tolerate one or two minutes out in the cold walking from the bus or from their parents’ vehicle to the school and being inside all day? But, God forbid they’re outside playing in the snow all day. Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.

Lombard is lucky to have a business owner like Rick at Cassidy Tires on Roosevelt Road. He’s been providing free tire inflation checks and does it with a smile. I’ve stopped in several times over the year and will definitely use him when I need new tires.

Good morning, SPEAK OUT, I’m calling from Villa Park. I look forward to your SPEAK OUT column every week with one exception: I feel that comments you accept from residents should pertain only to local issues. Last week one was even on Ferguson, Mo. There are plenty of positive and negative issues in Villa Park and Lombard to cover. Let’s keep the playing field local. Thank you.

I think SPEAK OUT has become a forum for people to speak what’s on their mind. Remember the back and forth on teachers, their performance, salaries, pensions? It was a lively debate over weeks. It was refreshing. Instead of looking at negative and positive, let’s look at ideas and the exchange of ideas and feelings. We may learn something.

I just read the first little snippet in SPEAK OUT about people being positive this year in SPEAK OUT, so I’d like to say something positive. St. Charles Road between Grace and Westmore is positively terrible. You could get in an accident. The road is not marked. Driving down St. Charles with all the crumbling asphalt, the pot holes, it’s positively terrible, and I am positive the street people could do a better job. I am positive if they can’t do a better job, then the board and the president should get somebody who can because I’m positive someone will have an accident with the terrible markings and the terrible condition of St. Charles Road. Thank you.

Is it really necessary for snow plows to be coming in the middle of the night plowing driveways? Can’t it wait until morning? Middle of the night, two of my neighbors had their driveways plowed and it woke me up and I was up for the next four hours.

I was snow blowing today. I am 72 and able to do my work. There was a problem with the blower. It wasn’t shooting out snow. I shut the machine off and bent over to see what the problem was. A silver pick-up truck stopped—an older man looking at me, questioning if I was OK. I gave him a wave and he was on his way. With all the nasty things going on, a man stops his truck to see if I was OK. It made me feel good.

To the skeet shooting complainer, I suggest you sell your house and move out of town. Skeet has been here probably longer than you have. I enjoy it. I think it’s a wonderful activity, and if our trustee from District 1 wants to go against it, I’ll do everything I can to get him booted out of office. Thank you.

I should have become a teacher. I would be making over $100,000 a year with almost no responsibility. I wouldn’t have to be responsible for earning a profit or bringing in customers or for innovation; I wouldn’t have to invest a dime of my own money; I wouldn’t have to work in the heat or cold; no nights or weekends, no heavy lifting; I would never get called in unexpectedly for an emergency; I would never have to fire anyone; I would get three months off in the summer, two weeks for Christmas, a week in the spring and every other state and federal holiday; and if it’s a little cold, or if it snows a few inches, I would get a day off.

On the noon news they said schools would be closed because of the cold weather, then the lady on the news said it would be a good time to go to the museum or library with the family. If you can go out to a museum or library, why can’t you just go to school? We didn’t need the TV to tell us how to survive. It’s called common sense.

Recently somebody who believes in global warming—which not many people believe in that anymore, that’s why they changed it to climate change and now they’re changing it to climate disruption—stated that 355 months in a row have had higher than average temperatures. You’re entitled to your opinion. You’re not entitled to your own facts; that is just not true. Just because you say it doesn’t make it true. For the last 15 years the temperature of the Earth has not changed. Somehow you get 355 months being higher than average in there? Come on. The whole global warming thing is an anti-American, anti-capitalist, anti-corporation movement. I would have more respect for the people who would come out and say, “We want capitalism in America.”

Hi, this is Lombard calling. I would like to see people putting blue lights on their house supporting police officers in Lombard and surrounding towns. My son is a police officer and I support them 100 percent. Let’s show our support. Thank you.

Hello, this is Lombard with a shout out to our postal workers. I was outside today on Sunday, possibly the first warm day we had, and noticed with the recent snow, the sidewalks were very icy still, even though the people tried to clean them; it can’t be helped. But, our postal carriers were out there in that bitter, bitter cold on those slippery sidewalks delivering our mail, so I, for one, am grateful you do this job. You go, guys, you rock. Thanks.

This is a suggestion for the local school districts. We were facing a third day of missing school because of cold weather. Why don’t we, in the coming future, change some of the vacation schedules so that instead of only two weeks off for Christmas, we take maybe the whole month of January? That way it would prevent kids from having to be out in the cold and prevent missed days. It would save wear and tear on vehicles and equipment and kids wouldn’t be out at these bus stops. It’s only a month and we could take that off of other days or part of the summer. Thank you.

This is for the Glen Oak gun club commenter. The passenger pigeon has nothing to do with me hearing sporting shotgun use, which is trap and skeet shooting at a local club. Absolutely nothing. You must come from the liberal camp of emotion and not quite clear thinking. I, in fact, like it and will be calling my trustee to say that’s their right. I think it’s great we hunt and fish. It’s a great way to raise your kids. It’s a great part of this nation. If you want to complain about something, why don’t you complain about abortion or some of the many other issues such as a weak president who’s throwing our country down the drain, unfortunately. Why don’t you complain about the Islamo-fascists who are tearing apart Europe and starting in our country? That’s not an issue, the trap shooting. I think it’s a great sound of freedom and you should be thankful you hear it.
