Hello. Recently with the mild weather, I had a chance to walk through Madison Meadow park. Beautiful park; I’m just concerned about all the geese and all the goose droppings all over the place. The paths, the fields, and so on and so forth. A lot of our parks seem to have this problem. What are we going to do about this? This is dirty, disgusting, unhealthy. Thank you.

Your inquiry was forwarded to the Lombard Park District. However, two requests for a comment/response have not been acknowledged.—blm

Hi, this is Lombard calling in regard to SPEAK OUT of Wednesday, Feb. 3. This is to the person who is talking about the immigrants, that America was built on immigrants. Yes, I understand that America was built on immigrants, but not illegal immigrants. When you talk about illegal immigrants you’re talking about not coming into the United States properly with papers. The issue is, it’s not legal immigrants who are the issue. It’s the illegal immigrants. This is why everybody’s having an issue. It’s illegal immigrants. Thank you.

Hi. I just wanted to call, in SPEAK OUT about a week or so ago somebody calling in, well somebody’s always calling and complaining about the post office. I live on Grace and I have never had a problem with the post office ever. The people have always been courteous, nice, my mail has always been delivered on time and in regard to the person who had his or her mailbox knocked down, my mailbox has been knocked down twice in the winter months and I’ve called public works and if not that day the next day they’re putting it back up for me. There’s no charge; they’ve been nothing but nice and pleasant, so maybe this person isn’t polite enough to get a good response. Goodbye.

Hi. I would like to congratulate the 2015-16 Glenbard East conference champs for bowling. You guys did a really good job. Keep up the good work.

Hi, this is Lombard calling. I just wanted to thank the Lombard Historical Society for the really fun Bootleggers Bash that they held Saturday, Jan. 20. We had a great time there and I think everyone did, too, and thanks to any of the sponsors that donated gifts. Thanks a lot, bye bye.

Regarding illegal immigration; callers talk about them taking advantage of our resources, but my fear is that certain individuals will find their way into this country just as those from south of the border do—then, will be pretty much under the radar and undetected. How do we combat the unknown, when we couldn’t stop those on 9-11 we had concerns about?

Thanks again to the Lombard paramedics who picked me up on Jan. 24 on a Sunday. Always great care and concern. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work.

Concerning a recent article quoting state Sen. Cullerton of Villa Park and his supposed efforts to remove waste, fraud and abuse in the state, as a Democrat whose party has controlled the state legislature for so many years, during which time this financial mess has only gotten worse and worse. He needs to address these issues within his own party first, as you need to patch the hole in the sinking ship before it will float again. The Democratic party, Madigan and Cullerton, the state Senate president in particular, need to work with Rauner, not the other way around. They are the infection that needs to be cured.

Oh, God is back in SPEAK OUT again, telling us how the poor don’t work hard enough, and suggesting that the robber barons of the 19th century and the new robber barons of Wall Street have somehow “earned” the obscene amount of wealth that they have stolen from a once-thriving middle-class. They use the money to change the laws, and the tax code to create a wealth inequality unseen in this country.  Maybe if earning minimum wage would allow one to live above the poverty level, they wouldn’t be protesting in the streets.

I was just reading the Villa Park Review and I see our librarian again wants a new library. Didn’t she learn in 2008, 63 percent voted no? Let me explain something to the librarian. I see they have a Web site. Maybe she’s never heard of the Internet. Anything a library can do you can get off the Internet, and in 10 to 15 years there will be no use for a library or a librarian. That’s number one. Number two, last year they raised our taxes for streets and then the next thing you know, our village doesn’t have enough money for sewers. Whatever happened with all that money? Where did it go? Why was everything pushed to the back burner and the villagers don’t know anything about it? Those are two questions: one for our librarian and two for our village president who wants to become a congresswoman. Thank you. Have a nice night.

Gov. Christie wants to cut our Social Security entitlements. An entitlement is something the government gives for whatever; Social Security is what you worked for and paid into, along with taxes, etc. Illegal immigrants have not worked for or paid into this for a lifetime like full-time working legal Americans. We still pay on our retirement money.

Lombard calling. What is all this stuff about God says, everyone is supposed to be respectful? When I look at my dog-eared copy of quotations from Jesus I see all the stuff about feeding the hungry and clothing the naked. I don’t see anything about being respectful. I read about tables being overturned and money-changers being chased away with the threat of a good whippin’. Something about camels trying to get through the eye of a needle. Thank you.

Lombard calling. I’d just like to tell everyone how much fun I had last night at the Candlelight Bowl to benefit the Two Rivers Nation. It truly was a fun time. The people who put it on did a wonderful job and I look forward to going to it next year. Thank you so very much for such a fun activity. Bye bye.

The upcoming election is one of the most important in decades. Many Americans did not vote, which is terrible. Many of these non-voting Americans do nothing but complain. There are many excuses not to do something, from the sun is not shining to the fish are not biting. The author of our Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, could have made excuses. Five of his six children died in his lifetime. His wife, his only love, died at a young age. He lost Monticello, the family home he built, because he helped a friend with a loan. The British had a price on his head. With all that was happening, he loved his country, not yet formed, and developed and wrote the Declaration of Independence. We can’t, what, vote?

This is Villa Park calling, just to say thank you for leaving the lights on, on the lamp posts on the Prairie Path, even after Christmas. It looks very pretty and it brightens up these dark January and February days. Thanks much, bye bye.

Congratulations to the Denver Broncos for winning Super Bowl 50 and putting that apparently it’s-all-about-me Cam Newton in his place. It’s about time. Now maybe he’ll start acting like a human again.

I’m calling about the Lombard Post Office, how there are a lot of people complaining about the post office. Well, I happen to have the best mailman in Lombard or in the state of Illinois. His name is Wayne and we always get our mail. If he sees mail a couple of times without being picked up, he’ll come to the house and check on you. I just wanted to let somebody know about him. His name is Wayne.

Yes, there are people protesting for equality in wages, respect, working conditions and benefits. They get my respect for wanting what our Constitution promises. How many part-time jobs that don’t offer benefits should one person work to provide for their families? My Bible teaches all you quoted. Perhaps you need to live what you wrote. You may still earn your way to heaven by helping those less fortunate than yourself.

Recently somebody called in to SPEAK OUT and stated how we are a nation of immigrants and that’s our culture, and that’s what we are. You know, I couldn’t disagree with that person more and the rest of their diatribe on how much they love immigrants. I, for one, believe we are a nation of laws. Start by tossing the people out who are here illegally because if you are not a nation that follows laws, you are no longer a nation. We are no longer a nation where people come to live the American dream; they come here to set up their country here. They are coming here and they are not assimilating. We are not the great melting pot anymore.
