If there isn't money to put out notices for your license plate sticker renewal for the year, and if there isn't money to mail out notices for emission tests, is there still going to be money for Jesse White to have his gymnastics team to walk in parades? Is there going to be money for that and not for the other essential stuff? I would like to have an answer. If they are still marching in parades and the taxpayers are paying for it, there's something wrong somewhere. Goodbye.

According to the Jesse White Tumblers Web site, White formed the non-profit youth gymnastics program in 1959 as a positive alternative for inner-city children. Participants must stay away from gangs and drugs, and maintain a minimum “C” average in school—they are even required to show their report cards. White volunteers with the program and according to the Web site, “Contributions from our donors and sponsors make it possible for us to provide uniforms and performance equipment for our student-athletes in addition to covering travel expenses for the team.”—JAC

The subject I wish to speak about is wars and the reason for them and the reason not for them. I don't think we should ever get involved with a war unless our country is directly attacked. Otherwise, we should stay out of it because wars cost a lot of money. Wars destroy a lot of good young men and women with a lot of potential to do good. Wars do nothing but make money for big defense companies. I think unless we are directly attacked we should have a strong force that nobody would ever give it a second thought to attack us.

I’m having a conflict of conscience. I believe it is my civic duty to vote so I cannot complain about the way our local, county, state and national government is run. However, at this point, I cannot in good conscience cast a vote for any presidential candidate. I don’t care for any of them.

Thank you Lombard for putting up lights at Main and the Prairie Path, but drivers still aren't stopping for us. We need a police officer to start issuing tickets for people who don't stop for the flashing lights. Stop for pedestrians.

Villa Park calling. This newspaper often includes Peter Breen's Republican views in a special "Your Voice in Springfield" column. That's fine, but have you extended the same invitation to Deb Conroy, a Democrat, who is the representative for most of Villa Park and part of Elmhurst? Thank you.

Thank you for your suggestion. We will extend an invitation to Rep. Conroy.—blm

This is Villa Park calling. I'm surprised to read that people believe, or someone believes, that the library will be obsolete after 20 years. You really need to visit the Villa Park Library and see what it's all about and what it means to the community before you make a statement like that. I just can't believe someone would think that. Sometimes you have to invest in the community as a whole to make it better for all of us. You really need to visit the library.

Regarding the Lombardian, why are so many of your cartoons against Hillary Rodham Clinton? With all of the clowns who are running, I'm sure you have more material for jokes.

The last time I saw a picture of the Vatican, there wasn't a bridge into it. There was a high brick wall around it; you know, like the one we want on our southern border. When you talk to illegal immigrants, ask them how many hours a week they work, how much they pay in taxes and for medical insurance, car insurance, etc., if they get food stamps, and then compare it with what you work for in America and for what you have for it. And, keep in mind, they're not running from oppression or a war-torn country; they're running to handouts. That's not what my God believes in.

Really exciting to hear everybody talking about Wayne the mail carrier. Well, I want to talk to you about John. He delivers mail between Main and Grace Street on the north side of Lombard. Let me tell you about John. He's way better than Wayne. That's all.

You're not going to like what I'm going to say. You're expecting a baby but nobody has the right to take a life. Aborting a child is taking a life and you're taking the life of a child who never committed any crime, never committed any sin, never did any wrong. You do not have that right. You must suffer a little through the child bearing or producing process but bring the child into the world and give it to some caring mother and father who would love to have it. But do not, I say, do not abort that child. Do not kill that child because you don't want it. You had your fun, pay for your fun. OK, goodbye.

It seems that whenever SPEAK OUT gets a response about something, it’s always a so-called logical answer. That is, none of these responses ever say they agree that something is/got messed up or that maybe they could have done something differently. It’s always a rationale, but never any hint of hindsight that there could have been a different solution.

Hello, Lombard Chamber of Commerce. Since the Village of Lombard did not do anything about getting us a grocery store in downtown Lombard, perhaps you could put all your efforts toward helping us get a grocery store in downtown Lombard. As Bill Mueller would say, "Lombard is good for business and business is good for Lombard." If you build it, they will come. Thank you and good night.

Hey, thanks to Bernie for putting his office in downtown Lombard. It's the most exciting thing that's happened in that area for a long, long time. Feel the Bern.

I'm tired of the people of the state of Illinois putting down Bruce Rauner. It's Michael Madigan and the Democrats who have put this state with $115 billion deficit. Michael Madigan proposes a budget that's $5 billion over the budget. The Democrats have controlled the state for many years and they are the ones who have destroyed the economy, giving us the lowest credit rating in the nation. Bruce Rauner is cutting programs because there's not money. It's the Democrats who have put the state where it is, in a negative budget. Bruce Rauner has no choice but to cut programs because there are no programs for the rich, they are all for the poor. The thing is, the teacher unions should pay for these social programs. All these big pensions the get for hardly even working 20 years. So, don't blame Bruce Rauner for trying to clean up the Democrats' mess.

Take note who caused the riots at the Trump rally at UIC; not the people for Trump, the protesters who have caused problems everywhere.
