I'm wondering how a commercial truck gets to park on the street every night four nights in a row, five nights in a row and I leave my truck out one night and I got a ticket. This guy never has a ticket on his truck. I think a commercial truck should be taken care of by the owner of the truck like getting a lot somewhere else that you pay for instead of infringing on all your neighbors. I'm waiting for a car to pull out and ram the back of that thing, because it's so close to the stop sign. Thank you. Bye.

According to an answer provided by the Village of Lombard:

“The Lombard Police Department has checked its records and the vehicle you mentioned has been ticketed on at least three occasions. The Lombard Police Department will be more than happy to continue checking on the vehicle and location in question, as well as continue to issue citations. For future issues that may arise, please call 9-1-1 and an officer will immediately be dispatched to investigate.”–blm

Big shout out to Lt. Barton of the Villa Park Fire Department. I took his CPR class the other night at Iowa Community Center. Great class, learned a lot of information about CPR/AED. Very informational. Kudos to VPFD for holding this class. Thanks, Lt. Barton.

Hi. People keep calling and suggesting food stores to move into the area, which is a fine idea, but how about having a Golden Corral in the area? Wouldn’t that be great? Have you been to that restaurant? There’s one in Bolingbrook and it’s always busy. Old Country Buffet moved out, probably because of their high prices. But, if you moved a Golden Corral where the Kmart is or even where Old Country Buffet used to be that would be great. We also could use an Arby’s near us or a Long John Silver’s. So, those would be good ideas, just to pass them along. Thank you.

This is Lombard calling. As a heads up to Microsoft Windows users, I just had a phone call from a man telling me that our new Windows 10 was corrupted and damaging other people’s computers by sending out a virus. He requested I go to my computer and he would show me what the problem was. I began asking numerous questions, at which he became increasingly agitated. He told me if I didn’t allow him access to fix the problem he would shut down my Internet within one hour. I hung up on him and made a call to Microsoft technical assistance. They informed me they would never call a person in this manner. They do not solicit, but rather wait to be called. This was an obvious scan to get access to my computer. Just beware. Thank you.

I’ve been following the caller who was posting about the Villa Park Library and encouraging people to go to the meeting last week. I was looking forward to reading how they were informed of what the library is doing and being positive about the project going forward. I was extremely surprised to see that after going to the meeting, as they say, they were misinformed of how the library was going to spend the money. It was very clear in the meeting that they talked about needs for structure—the roof, heating, air conditioning, the windows—and apparently this person misunderstood it and is under the impression that they’re going to spend the money on vending machines and a book sale area. Anyone who has read that or has had any concern about the library and the needs, needs to go there and check out the board’s presentation in the area and explains it pretty clearly what needs are needed for the library to stay open.

At the last Villa Park Library renovation update, there was no estimate for just repairing the current building. There was an estimate provided at the previous meeting, but nothing even mentioned this month. For those of us who think expansion is not necessary, where were the figures for just fixing up what we have? Let’s not build something we may not use in 15-20 years.

I don’t understand Sen. Tom Cullerton’s bill to transfer mosquito abatement from DuPage County to township control. DuPage County includes 12 townships. How does this reduce government?

This is in response to the caller about the garbage being properly disposed of. All you need to do is take a walk down the street on garbage night, which is Thursday, and you will see all the cans that have been destroyed by the squirrels. I, too, have seen a lot of garbage; we have been throwing it out from our yard that the squirrels bring. All these people need to do is call Waste Management and they’ll be very happy to bring out a brand new can. If that doesn’t work, I don’t know if the village can let us know what can be done. Thanks, bye.
