To the person who called in about Mexicans using taxpayer money, I think you should turn off Fox News for awhile and actually listen to or research the truth. The vast majority of refugees are coming from countries in South America such as Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador and therefore are not from Mexico. Grouping all refugees together and calling them Mexicans is therefore inaccurate and just plain racist. I stand with the refugees and immigrants because this is a humanitarian issue and we are all one world and one human race.

There was a sad and cruel comment about Trump's wife in SPEAK OUT, which was, "At least kick his immigrant wife out of the country." That was a sad and crude comment. That statement and others like it are a very sad commentary on America and some Americans. Let the president be president and leave his family alone. We allowed Clinton, Bush and that terrible Obama administration to implement their programs and initiatives. Trump is not like other presidents. He gets things done, thank God. I thank the Almighty for those brave people who voted for Trump. From various comments some people hate Trump more than they love this great country.

It will be interesting to see if President Trump nominates a woman to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court. Democrats moaned and groaned that sexism contributed to Hillary Clinton's loss to Trump in 2016. These same Democrats will have no trouble savaging a female nominee who isn't in lockstep with their leftist views. Democrats aren't champions of women; they are champions of liberals who think the same way they do. If that liberal happens to be a woman, like Hillary Clinton, they will use the gender card and paint anyone who disagrees with them as a sexist. But any woman they disagree with will be subject to attacks. If President Trump nominates a woman, rest assured that white, male Democrat senators like Dick Durbin and Chuck Schumer will oppose her. Will they be painted as sexists by so-called women's groups? Of course not, because those groups are leftists. Ideology trumps gender. Leftists only play the gender card when it's convenient for them.

Let's get one thing straight, Lombard: abortion is a legal medical procedure in the United States. Women of childbearing age have the ultimate right to determine if our egg in our body will or will not go full term. No zealot of any creed will determine our eggs' fate. Founders allowed citizens to practice their faith of choice or none at all, but disallowed their ability to impose their rigid belief system on others. Women will not allow a zealot's doctrine to override our ownership and right to determine what happens to our bodies.

Those NFL players who kneeled during the national anthem disgrace and dishonor those Americans who served, fought and died for this country. If someone's civil rights are being violated, draw attention to the problem specifically. Work at resolving the problem. Get out of your Mercedes or mansion and join the picket line. Don't disgrace the nation that made it possible for you to succeed.

A person called in about the Lombard Pharmacy moving down by Main Street near Dairy Queen. Unless I am wrong, I do believe when you pull in and out of Lombard Pharmacy you still have to pull out on Main Street. I don't understand how this person thinks this was a bad move because you still pull in and you go out on Main Street. You can go around the back and go out to Main Street, but when you leave you have to go out on Main Street. Do you think because this is a different corner that us poor old senior citizens might not be able to handle the change? We still have to pull out on Main Street no matter where it's at.

There is absolutely no hope for the people who follow Donald Trump. It is really, really sad that these people follow him like the Pied Piper to the river or being led to the slaughter like the lambs. I truly, truly feel very, very sorry for this uninformed group of Americans who just, if they took one hour a day to listen what's going on and hear what's going on, with racism and everything in this great land, maybe one or two could actually see the light and change. I sure hope so.

A guy on a bike July 2 blew the eastbound red light on St. Charles and came within inches of losing his life. Bicyclists need to be reminded that they must obey the same rules as motorists. I’ve seen way too many of these near accidents and don’t want to see anyone killed.

To the person who called in and mentioned Sarah Sanders not being able to eat at a restaurant, I wonder if you felt the same way when the homophobic bakery denied baking a cake for a gay couple. Trump and his minions are all very hypocritical. That Sarah Sanders couldn't eat chicken but could feel nothing toward a couple being discriminated against because of their sexual orientation, I think that's a problem.

Yes, this is Lombard calling. It is Fourth of July. Another Fourth of July without a Taste of Lombard. Waiting for the fireworks but you know, it's not the same as what we used to have for many years as the Taste of Lombard where there would be bands, there would be music playing while the fireworks would start at 9:30.

Now for the fifth time in four weeks I have received a campaign mailer from Peter Roskam letting me know that he is not a pawn of the National Rifle Association and that we need to return him to Congress so that he can protect out students from mass shooters.  Well, what I remember, Congressman Roskam, is that in January of 2017 you helped pass a bill that removed restrictions on those who were determined by a judge to be mentally ill so that they could purchase firearms, which means just about anyone would do a better job at protecting us than you.

It's funny how Democrats act like toddlers when they don't get their way. The Electoral College system has been in place for over 200 years. When a Democratic candidate for president wins the Electoral College vote, everything's fine. When Democrats lose the Electoral College vote, they whine about the system. When Democrats like a 5-4 ruling from the Supreme Court, again, the process works well. When they don't like a 5-4 decision, they moan about a narrow ruling, mean Republicans, etc. Democrats should start acting like adults.

Challenge to the Democrats: When responding to criticism about your party's actions, instead of deflecting a response with "But what about when the Republicans did such and such," first address the specific issue, and don't turn it around onto Republicans. If you can defend it, explain your reason for doing so. That's like a parent scolding a kid for breaking a vase, then the kid saying, "Yeah, but Johnny broke the lamp."
